END THE DRUG EPIDEMIC
Drugs are destroying our future.
Over the past 15 years, more than 1 million Americans have died from drug overdoses, according to the CDC. From 2009 to 2024, overdose deaths in the U.S. have skyrocketed—driven by opioids like prescription painkillers, heroin, and especially deadly synthetic drugs like fentanyl.
This crisis wasn’t accidental—it was fueled by greed.
Big Pharma knowingly flooded our communities with addictive drugs, turning many well-meaning healthcare workers into unknowing distributors. Prescribing medications that can cause addiction within 3–5 days—especially to young people—is irresponsible at best and criminal at worst.
Powerful opioids like oxycodone, hydrocodone, fentanyl, amphetamines, and even certain antidepressants can create dependency in less than a week. We must hold accountable every doctor, pharmacist, school nurse, official, and pharmaceutical company that contributed to this epidemic.
And we must show compassion and strength in helping those who’ve already been victimized—whether by a pill-pushing doctor or a fentanyl dealer on the street.
What OCOC Demands:
-
Accountability from medical professionals who recklessly prescribe addictive drugs
-
Responsibility from elected officials to act, not ignore
-
Commitment from towns and counties to provide real help: rehab centers, halfway houses, and long-term care
-
Urgency from law enforcement to go after drug dealers, not victims
-
Unity from communities to protect our kids, support families, and save lives
